FACILITIES

Our ambulatory training takes place in the Family Medicine Center, located in midtown Mobile. We primarily use two hospitals within USA system for our inpatient training and USA Specialty Physicians for our specialty training augmented with experiences in several private physicians offices.

Family Medicine Center

This is home base and the focus for resident training. Located in midtown Mobile, convenient to the downtown entertainment district, shopping malls, and historic homes. Our patients come from all walks of life and on a given day your panel might include anyone from a newborn with breastfeeding problems to a college professor with chest pain. It is equipped with almost any piece of equipment needed to diagnose and treat common medical conditions as well as care for patients with chronic conditions and in need of preventive services. Lab and x-ray are located right down the hall. You will spend an orientation month here as well as ½ day per week throughout your first year, two sessions a week in your second year and up to five sessions a week here in your third year. USA Medical Center Hospital

The 346-bed university hospital is a major site for inpatient resident training. It is a regional referral center for South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, and Northwest Florida. You will do your Adult Medicine, Cardiology, and CCU training in this hospital. A major part of your training is spent caring for the practices patients during the FPS month. The Family Medicine attending heading this service admits to all floors and all Intensive Care units at this hospital. For more information, click here.

USA Children's & Women's Hospital

The 220-bed specialty hospital is also a major site for inpatient resident training. It is a regional referral center for children and high-risk pregnancies from South Alabama, Southern Mississippi and Northwest Florida. You will do your Obstetrics and Pediatrics training in this hospital. For more information, click here.
